KUKA Laboratories, one of KUKA Roboter's sister companies, will exhibit at CARS2014, the 28th International Conference on Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery, which will be held in Fukuoka City from June 25 (Wednesday) to June 28 (Saturday). CARS2014 is an exhibition conference themed "Life Innovation through Advanced Medical Technology." At the KUKA Laboratories booth, we will showcase applications utilizing KUKA's latest 7-axis robot, the LBR iiwa, in the medical field with live demonstrations. We invite you to take this opportunity to visit the venue and see the actual equipment. The KR LBR iiwa is KUKA's latest 7-axis robot that meets ISO safety standards and can work in the same space as humans. At CARS2014, we will introduce a surgical assistant application using the KR LBR iiwa as cutting-edge medical equipment. KUKA Next Generation 7-Axis Robot 'LBR iiwa'

The "LBR iiwa" is a 7-axis robot equipped with torque sensors on all 7 axes, allowing it to perform tasks with a sense similar to that of a human arm. It immediately stops upon contact with a person and can quickly resume operation after confirming safety. There are two types available: the "LBR iiwa 7 R800" with a payload of 7 kg and the "LBR iiwa 14 R820" with a payload of 14 kg. It can perform complex movements that are very close to those of a human arm and is well-suited for tasks that require delicate force adjustments.
